Mason Grey {Turns 6}

Happy 6th Birthday to my boy! I can't say that much has changed between 5 and 6, but he is definitely far more independent and will literally entertain himself for hours.
He's still a momma's boy!
This year he said that once he turns 6, I'm no longer allowed to call him my baby. Little does he know that he will always be my baby.

Let's Bowl!

Thursday, November 8, 2018
This past weekend we celebrated Mason's 5th Birthday with family and friends in Corpus. We were going to have a party in our city, but decided to spend it closer to where most of our family is at. With limited locations to have birthday parties in Corpus, we chose to go with a bowling party.

Happy 5th Birthday to my boy who made me a mommy! This boy is still as shy as ever, not sure that it will ever change. He is a stubborn boy and wise beyond his years, but he's a mama's boy and I secretly hope that never changes.
He's never been so excited to turn any age, but apparently 5 is special because he is so excited to be 5!

4 years ago today, at 7:51am, we welcomed our 8lb 7oz baby boy into this world!
Today he's our strong-willed, determined, and shy "big boy".
I still can't believe he's 4.

Mickey Mouse Party

Wednesday, November 9, 2016
This past weekend we celebrated Mason's 3rd birthday with some family and friends. Since we went to Disneyland for his birthday, we thought it was only right to have a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party!

The party almost didn't happen....

We flew into town after a week in California and that night Mason started vomiting. He must have caught a stomach bug somewhere along the way. All he could talk about was about his friends coming over. I felt terrible for him and thought that I was going to have to cancel the entire party. I definitely did not want anyone else to catch the stomach bug. Literally the last couple hours before his party he was feeling better and hadn't thrown up since early, early that morning.

Well, the party happened. His friends came over. He had fun and that is all that matters!

Mason {Turns Three}

Monday, November 7, 2016
This past week we celebrated you!

We celebrated BIG!

We celebrated you turning 3!

We celebrated your 3rd birthday by taking you to Disneyland and had a Mickey Mouse birthday party (more posts later).

What better way to celebrate the most amazing 3 years of our life with you in it than at Disneyland?!

P E R S O N A L I T Y
You are something else! You keep your daddy and I entertained. Your laugh. Man it's contagious. You have the best laugh, especially your fake laugh. You still favor your mommy over your daddy, but I'm sure someday that will change. You love to cuddle on the sofa and watch movies, but you also love to play. You do pretty well with playing by yourself. If we go anywhere you'd much rather walk than sit in a stroller. You love to make dinosaur noises...a.k.a. roar really loud. You are a shy boy...you're like your momma and it takes a minute for you to warm up to people. You are definitely a reserved child and not so quick to do things that could result in you hurting yourself. You're always a little hesitant to just try things. For the most part you are a pretty good boy, but like any other 3 year old you have your moments of temper tantrums and breakdowns. Usually those happen when you haven't napped.

T A L K I N G
Most mom's would say this, but your language is far superior than most 3 year olds. You know have an expansive vocabulary and use some large words that I've never heard 3 year old kids use. Not only is your vocabulary amazing, but we can understand every single thing you tell us too.

E A T I N G
You are still the pickiest eater around! You are finally starting to come around with eating meat again. For awhile you banned all meats. You love fries and ketchup and you still love eating spaghetti and you love strawberries. You still love milk and drink a cup with every meal. You still ask for your afternoon snack everyday.

S L E E P
At same time we started potty training you we officially converted your crib to a toddler "big boy" bed. So far you've done well and haven't fallen out of the bed. You're a pretty still sleeper so I'm not too concerned about it. Our bedtime routine is still the same. We brush your teeth, read books, pray, sing, and then lights out. You still like to pick out your own books to read before bedtime. You still want me to lay in bed with you while you fall asleep. You still have a nap, usually between 12:30-3:00pm. If you don't nap you end up falling asleep early, or get really grumpy.

F A V O R I T E S
Oh, what is not your favorite?!
Mickey Mouse • Cars • Mader • iPad • Dinosaurs • Monster Trucks • Trains • Thomas the Train • Donuts • Strawberries •

P O T T Y  T R A I N I N G
We begin the potty training process about 4 weeks before you turned 3 and you did great! You are wearing pull up's at night because we tried only wearing underwear and you peed in the bed. It's a lot to have to wake you up and change your bedding and clothes and then try to get you back to sleep. It's not worth you losing sleep over. You'll get it...eventually.

We had our first trip to Disneyland!!! So fun!

Mason {Turns Two}

Saturday, November 7, 2015
My little baby boy,

You're two now! Two! I'm not going to lie I may have shed a few tears. Every day you get a little bit older. Every day you're turning more into a little boy, and less of a baby boy! This makes my heart a little bit sad. You still want your mommy more than your daddy, and you still want me to hold your hand, but I know that someday this will change. So for now, I'll embrace every minute of you being our little boy.

This past month has been full of changes for all of us. Some of them are more heartbreaking for this momma, because I know that they are affecting you. The one thing I have learned thus far about being a mom is being unable to protect you from things that I feel are going to be hard on you. It really, really is so hard for me and I know that in the end you will be fine and it is probably harder on me than it will ever be on you.
Change #1) We decided to sell our home. The only home you've ever known. Packing and getting ready to move has been a challenge. It's hard to pack when all you want to do is play. So most of our packing has been done during naptime, or bedtime. The other times you've tried to be so helpful.
Change #2) You started a new daycare. Deciding where you should be for 8-9 hours while mommy is at work is one of the toughest decisions to make. I wanted you to be comfortable in your environment, but I knew that this change would not be easy since you had been at the same daycare since you were 3 months old. I also knew that you would adjust and be fine. Time will make everything just fine. I know that you will prosper and learn so much more. In fact, you have learned to wash your hands on your own now. Mommy saw you one day when I was picking you up from school. I smiled and knew that the right decision was made. I can already see so much change and learning from you.

Your vocabulary is exploding and I'm sure that from here forward I won't be able to keep up with all of the new things that you say daily. I'm sure that I've even missed a few words here and there this entire past year. You are so smart! I'm might be biased, but even daddy says that he's never seen a kid as smart as you! You can now count from 1-20 on your own. You are beginning to recognize songs and you even ask to hear them. Mommy plays nursery rhymes during our drives home. Your favorite song right now is 10,000 Reasons. You call it "My Soul". You always ask us to play this song and you sing it with all of your heart! Oh, it brings tears to my eyes and makes this momma heart smile!

You are becoming more and more independent. When we go on walks you no longer want to take your car or bike, instead you would rather walk. Mommy is trying to teach you that we can't walk across the street on your own, and that you must hold mommy or daddy's hand to cross the street because of the big cars. You love to point at things and say what they are.

Our bedtime routine is still the same. We brush your teeth, read books, pray, sing, and then lights out. You still pick out your own books, but reading time is becoming a little more challenging. Often times, you want to just flip thru the pages and not actually read. So, we go with the flow. You still favor for mommy to put you to bed.

You're drinking 6-8 ounces of milk three times a day (8:30am, 11:30am, and 6:00pm).

You are eating 3 times a day (8:30am, 11:30am, and 6:00pm) with an occasional morning snack, and afternoon snack.
Your nap time is at 12:00-3:00pm.

You have bath time around 7:00-7:30pm, go to bed between 8:00-8:30pm, and wake up between 7:00-8:00am.

New words this month: Happy Birthday, present, and a ton more.....

First: none

The last two years with you have been a dream. I love your curious and adventurous personality, you infectious smile, your insistent determination and your spirit for life. I am so thankful for you, and for the joy you bring into our life. We hope you never forget the love we all feel for you, and we hope you always live your life with the contagious energy you seem to never run out of from morning to night.

Happy, happy birthday to you our handsome baby boy!
Mommy and Daddy love you to pieces!

First Birthday

Sunday, November 9, 2014
For Mason's very 1st Birthday, I planned a Red Wagon themed party. It was so much fun seeing Mason enjoy everyone's company. He was the center of attention and he loved every minute of it! We had fun celebrating our baby boy's first birthday and we are looking forward to many more. We are very thankful for our family and friends that helped us celebrate our boy!
