The night before Halloween, known as "Halloween filled with alcohol for grown-ups", was fun! A group of us dressed up and celebrated in our utmost fashionable outfits! The husband and I chose to dress up a little retro, 60's to be quite exact! His friends got a little more creative than we did. One was dressed as a cougar hunter (we all know how popular those are around here) and the other as none other than the infamous Osama Bin Laden! At times, throughout the night, the cougar hunter pretended to be the army guy who captured Osama. You'll see why (pay attention to his attire)! The highlight of the night (of which I unfortunately did not catch on camera) was the, not once but twice, moment the cougar hunter lived up to his name by dancing with a "nurse". Better described by him as, "a sixty year oldass who smells likes mothballs smoke". It was quite hilarious, and gross at the same time, to watch the youngest guy of the group dance with the eldest lady in the freakin' building! Fun times! I'd like to think of Halloween as the one night that you can absolutely dress, or act, as you would NEVER on any other day of the year. My motto: have fun dressing up, but always be tactful! We are already planning our costumes for next Halloween, so needless to say, we cannot wait until Halloween 2011, but first we've got to get through the stressful, stomachful, empty-your-pocket book holidays! So much to look forward to as we wrap up what was known as an exciting and eventful Twenty-Ten!

This July 4th we went to Kaboomtown in Addison and met some of Jeff's friends out there. The weather was not very cooperative, but we weathered the storms with our umbrellas. The firework show was spectacular and longer than I had expected. Below are some photos that captured our night! I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day with their family and friends!

We decided to spend the day at Lake Lewisville with friends, kids, fun, and good food. Our plans for the day were: spending the day at the lake and later go out onto the lake in a pontoon boat.
Before we went to the lake the kiddos gave Jeff the Father's Day cards that they chose and his gift, that I chose. They chose those fancy new cards where you can record your own personal message and that they did!
Jeff had been wanting Nike Shox, so I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to purchase a pair for him.
Jeff and I enjoying the sun and good company.
Vick and his wife Adrienne.
Some of the group: Sina, Cesar, and Maria.
The kiddos really enjoyed spending time in the lake. I managed to get in the water, just once, and I was extremely grossed out with how the bottom of the lake felt against my feet.
Oh, what it's like to be kid. I can remember going to Lake Mathis quite often, but I most certainly do not remember the bottom of it feeling so gross. Children are so oblivious to these type of things...gotta love them!
Gotta love this silly girl! Arm floats on her ankles...creative!
We all kind of felt like this by about 4:00 P.M., or perhaps he was so tired from lack of sleep, due him being up all night long...teenagers!
Despite us all feeling exhausted and burnt out, we headed to a local boat rental company to ride away in the pontoon. Unfortunately our boat, the boat we had rented for 4 hours, was anchored somewhere in Lake Lewisville and unable to make it back to shore in time. We waited patiently for about an hour and decided it was time to give it up. Needless to say, we were not very happy; however, we went home, showered, and had a great dinner at Johnny Carino's! I'm thankful that we had such a wonderful day with a few great fathers! Until next time, Lake Lewisville!

Raul "Popo" Santos
On May 23, the grandfather, of a great friend of mine, passed away unexpectedly. My heart is heavy knowing that his family lost a great man and that they are grieving. I'm blessed that I had the opportunity to know such an amazing man. I have the fondest memories of him and of the wonderful husband and grandfather that he was to my dear friend and her grandma. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. I pray that his family takes comfort in knowing that his last breathe on earth, was his first in heaven and that he is in a better place; free from pain and suffering. As I prepare to drive to Corpus tomorrow morning to pay my respect to this wonderful man, I will reflect upon the memories I have of him and continue to pray for his family and my sweet friend who loved her "Popo" so much. Thank you Raul for the caring words and kindness that you've always shown to me. God Bless you Raul and may you rest in peace.

All week long Jeff decided that he wanted to invite friends over for a BBQ, but the only problem was that we did not have a grill or outdoor seating! So, needless to say, we went and bought him a big manly grill and the patio set I liked!
This manly grill is a Char-Broil RED that has infrared technology and has the capability to sear, grill, barbeque, and rotisserie. He was very happy that he finally got the grill he had been wanting; little did I know he had very little experience with grilling. I jokingly told him that I thought he knew how to grill, and had I known that he did not, we would have purchased a cheap amateur grill!
Whether he knew how to grill, or not, all of the food was great! We had shish kabobs (chicken and beef), burgers, sausage, sides, and beer, of course! Jeff's friend, Cesar, made the burgers and they were huge, but delish!
We had a great time chatting and laughing! Owning our own home has been great and we definitely enjoy having friends and family over. We can't wait until we all get together again!
The patio set I REALLY wanted was on back order until May 31, so I wasn't very happy! We shopped around, and I found something that was comparable, so we purchased it. The whole set worked out just fine in our covered patio.
