Can someone please tell me where my baby went?!

I'm just now getting around to capturing these images of Mason, even though next month he'll be 2 years and 8 months. This boy keeps me on my toes, but he also keeps us laughing!

I just LOVE that these images capture who he is right now in this moment! He's a lover of bugs and animals, he loves being outdoors (even when it's 100 degrees out), he loves to run, he loves to say "cheese" and he loves to fake laugh really loud! There were times I had to tell him not to say cheese and just smile and show me his teeth. He's also starting to like the camera. He actually kept saying "come on mommy, lets go take pictures", and that right there makes this momma and photographers heart very happy! It's music to my ears!

I am amazed at how he's grown and how he's starting to look more like a little boy than my baby boy. It breaks this momma's heart to see him grow, but I'm learning to embrace each milestone and season that comes with him getting bigger and older.

Mason {Turns Two}

Saturday, November 7, 2015
My little baby boy,

You're two now! Two! I'm not going to lie I may have shed a few tears. Every day you get a little bit older. Every day you're turning more into a little boy, and less of a baby boy! This makes my heart a little bit sad. You still want your mommy more than your daddy, and you still want me to hold your hand, but I know that someday this will change. So for now, I'll embrace every minute of you being our little boy.

This past month has been full of changes for all of us. Some of them are more heartbreaking for this momma, because I know that they are affecting you. The one thing I have learned thus far about being a mom is being unable to protect you from things that I feel are going to be hard on you. It really, really is so hard for me and I know that in the end you will be fine and it is probably harder on me than it will ever be on you.
Change #1) We decided to sell our home. The only home you've ever known. Packing and getting ready to move has been a challenge. It's hard to pack when all you want to do is play. So most of our packing has been done during naptime, or bedtime. The other times you've tried to be so helpful.
Change #2) You started a new daycare. Deciding where you should be for 8-9 hours while mommy is at work is one of the toughest decisions to make. I wanted you to be comfortable in your environment, but I knew that this change would not be easy since you had been at the same daycare since you were 3 months old. I also knew that you would adjust and be fine. Time will make everything just fine. I know that you will prosper and learn so much more. In fact, you have learned to wash your hands on your own now. Mommy saw you one day when I was picking you up from school. I smiled and knew that the right decision was made. I can already see so much change and learning from you.

Your vocabulary is exploding and I'm sure that from here forward I won't be able to keep up with all of the new things that you say daily. I'm sure that I've even missed a few words here and there this entire past year. You are so smart! I'm might be biased, but even daddy says that he's never seen a kid as smart as you! You can now count from 1-20 on your own. You are beginning to recognize songs and you even ask to hear them. Mommy plays nursery rhymes during our drives home. Your favorite song right now is 10,000 Reasons. You call it "My Soul". You always ask us to play this song and you sing it with all of your heart! Oh, it brings tears to my eyes and makes this momma heart smile!

You are becoming more and more independent. When we go on walks you no longer want to take your car or bike, instead you would rather walk. Mommy is trying to teach you that we can't walk across the street on your own, and that you must hold mommy or daddy's hand to cross the street because of the big cars. You love to point at things and say what they are.

Our bedtime routine is still the same. We brush your teeth, read books, pray, sing, and then lights out. You still pick out your own books, but reading time is becoming a little more challenging. Often times, you want to just flip thru the pages and not actually read. So, we go with the flow. You still favor for mommy to put you to bed.

You're drinking 6-8 ounces of milk three times a day (8:30am, 11:30am, and 6:00pm).

You are eating 3 times a day (8:30am, 11:30am, and 6:00pm) with an occasional morning snack, and afternoon snack.
Your nap time is at 12:00-3:00pm.

You have bath time around 7:00-7:30pm, go to bed between 8:00-8:30pm, and wake up between 7:00-8:00am.

New words this month: Happy Birthday, present, and a ton more.....

First: none

The last two years with you have been a dream. I love your curious and adventurous personality, you infectious smile, your insistent determination and your spirit for life. I am so thankful for you, and for the joy you bring into our life. We hope you never forget the love we all feel for you, and we hope you always live your life with the contagious energy you seem to never run out of from morning to night.

Happy, happy birthday to you our handsome baby boy!
Mommy and Daddy love you to pieces!

Mason-23 Months

My baby boy,

Let me apologize in advance. I've been really good about capturing your growth every single month since you were born. This past month we were so busy with traveling that I just did not have time. I took plenty of photos of you while we were in Concan so those are the ones that I've used for this post :( I'm sure someday you'll think I was crazy for even bothering to take monthly photos of you, but I'm also sure that someday you'll thank me for it.

Well, enough of that. I can't believe that you are turning 2 next month. I can't believe that I've been so blessed to call you mine for 2 years. I'm amazed at how quickly this time has gone and, to be honest, it's all a bit much for me to take in. There just might be a few tears shed when my little boy turns 2. Moving on.

You have puzzles that you've had for a long time, but up until the last couple of weeks you never really cared about them. The 2 that you do have, you enjoy taking apart and putting back together. Everyday you amaze me at how smart you are. You've also had a play cell phone for a long time too. You used to just push the buttons, watch the lights, and listen to the noise that it makes. Recently you've started putting the phone to your hear and pretend to have a conversation with mommy or daddy or nana. You say, "Hallo". I'll usually respond with "Hi, Mason. What are you doing?" and you say, "watching tv" or "playing with toys". Smart, smart buddy!

Every morning you see mommy fill the dogs water and food bowl. This past week you have began to help mommy feed the dogs. You are such a big helper. You let mommy fill the water and food bowl, and you love to put them in their place.

You're still loving the outdoors, and we are trying to make the most of it while the weather is still good. Soon we'll have colder weather and have to spend more time indoors.

Our bedtime routine is still the same. We brushing your teeth, read books, pray, sing, and then lights out. You still pick out your own books, but reading time is becoming a little more challenging. Often times, you want to just flip thru the pages and not actually read. So, we go with the flow. You still favor for mommy to put you to bed.
